The purpose of the consultation is for me to learn as much as I can about you and what you need. The consultation also gives you the opportunity to gain a better understanding of hypnosis and what it can do for you.
Here are a few documents that we will go over during your consultation:
Client Bill of Rights – Besides giving me permission to hypnotize you, it also gives you information about my certification, fees and ethical standards (including confidentiality).
Intake Sheet – This contains your contact information along with some background about you and your family. Questions also include your experience with hypnosis (if any), medical considerations, and what you would like addressed.
You may download and answer them prior to the consultation, but we will briefly go over the facts in any case (possibly with follow-up questions).

Understanding Hypnosis
Because of Hollywood’s (and others’) sensationalism, there is a great deal of misinformation about hypnosis. And, although you may have researched this interesting subject yourself, some bits of myth may have gotten into your collection. Or, you may simply have some questions. We will discuss what hypnosis is and how it can help you. Your expectations and goals are also on the hypnosis table.
Goal Setting, Suggestion Management
Hypnosis is a powerful tool but it’s not magic. The conscious mind plays a role in forming goals and objectives. Part of the consultation involves assess what the problem is, what motivates you, what’s required to meet your objectives and what reaching your goal looks like for you. We will work together to tailor your hypnosis suggestions to attain the success you desire.
Suggestibility Activity
There are a number of methods of inducing hypnosis in individuals. Your answers to my questions help me determine which techniques work best for you. Suggestibility activities also provide useful information about what inductions are suited to you. These activities are noninvasive and simple.
Induction
Although it may be difficult to fit in an induction during a consultation, I will try to give you at least a taste of what hypnosis is like. Inductions are the actual hypnosis of the session. The initial inductions allow me to better gauge how to induce hypnosis, especially when I get informative feedback from you.
Feedback
While you are in hypnosis, I can take note of some common cues about how the induction is going for you. Then, after you have emerged from hypnosis, I will ask you questions that can further help me understand how hypnosis is working for you. From there, I can make adjustments to meet your needs and make the sessions more effective.
Homework
Oh no! Homework?! Relax. It’s the kind of homework that’s easy to do and will help you reach your goals. Usually, one of the first assignments I give you is the Pre-Sleep Technique. You can download it here if you wish.
Set next session
After checking schedules we set and plan for the next session. I look forward to seeing you again!
